The Ohio University Center of Sports Administration is proud to present the OHIO Sports Academies. The OHIO Sports Academies were designed to further educate high school students, collegiate students, and professionals in the sports industry.

OHIO Sports Business Academy
The OHIO Sports Business Academy will take place July 18-25, 2011. This week-long Academy focuses on establishing a basis for which entering high school juniors and seniors and college freshmen can begin their journey into the ever-changing world of sports. The OHIO Sports Business Academy will provide a full academic course worth of material in one week of work and subsequent online sessions (online sessions only for students choosing the course credit option). The Academy delivers content through classroom settings, practical experiences, guest lectures by visiting sports executives, and field trips.

The Academy will feature:
  • Jim Kahler ('81), former Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the Cleveland Cavaliers (NBA) and Rockers (WNBA)
  • Bob DiBiasio, Vice President of Public Relations for the Cleveland Indians (MLB)
  • Amy Huchthausen, Director of Academic & Membership Affairs at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)
  • Tricia Turley, Associate Athletics Director for Compliance and Student Services at Ohio University
  • Professors from Ohio University, the oldest sports administration program in the country
  • Cincinnati Reds field trip
  • Work experience with minor league style baseball team, the Southern Ohio Copperheads
