Ohio University MBA/MSA Mentor Program
From the time Ohio University MBA/MSA graduate students set foot on campus, they are offered a unique mentoring experience unmatched by any other graduate program in the country. Each student not only receives an executive alumni mentor and a faculty mentor, but a student mentor, as well.
- The Executive Alumni Mentor Program provides an opportunity for current students to network with an individual presently working in the sport industry. This executive mentorship offers students a chance to learn more about a specific industry or career path, as well as receive advice about anything from internship and job searches to getting the most out of graduate school. During the first-year of the graduate program, each student is paired with an alum who is willing to serve as a mentor for two years and shares a similar career interest or background. In many cases, these mentor relationships continue on well after the conclusion of graduate school.
- In addition to the executive mentors, students are paired with a Sports Administration Faculty Mentor. These faculty mentors are in place for both years of the graduate program, and they provide internship and career guidance, as well as assistance in choosing the right classes and reaching out to alumni.
- The Student Mentoring Program is one that begins as soon as first-year students are accepted. Each first-year student is paired with a second-year MSA student to assist with the transition and adjustment to graduate school. The student mentors are in place to provide general support and friendship. They are also available to answer questions and offer advice about anything from classes and professors to information about Athens. Between e-mails, phone calls and meetings for coffee or lunch, the student mentors serve as a strong support system for first-year students.
Overall, this mentoring experience allows students to build their personal network, while extending the Ohio University brand throughout the sport industry.
