Sports Administration at Ohio University
Ohio University became a pioneer in the field of sports administration by establishing the first specialized academic sports program in the country. Since its inception in 1966, the program has been recognized as a premier professional training program for candidates seeking careers in the sport industry. The continued expansion of spectator and recreational sports highlights the need for motivated and capable leaders who can combine business skills with a background in sports, facilities, and entertainment administration. Ohio University offers graduate and undergraduate programs to meet this need and prepare sport industry professionals for the leadership challenges of the future. The Sports Administration & Facility Management Program is a dual-degree graduate program that includes both a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Master of Sports Administration (MSA). The program offers a dynamic curriculum combining the core benefits of an MBA with the focused courses of an MSA. The program also has a JD/MSA program in cooperation with Capital Law School, and a one-year MSA option for students with previous graduate degrees in business or law. Ohio University also offers an undergraduate major in Sport Management. Courses in marketing, finance, accounting, and economics allow students to build a strong business foundation. Practicum and internship opportunities provide practical experience and industry connections that give Ohio University Sport Management majors a competitive advantage when entering the work force
